Literary Adventurers Club: September Expedition

• "Beowulf vs. Grendel" As the first epic poem written in English—or more accurately Old English—Beowulf is worthy of study just for its linguistic heritage, but where the poem really shines is its epic struggle between the monster Grendel and the warrior Beowulf. This script-story dramatizes the first part of the epic.
• "Fall of the House of Usher" Featuring a spooky house with a mysterious history, Roderick Usher the disturbed young lord who lives there, and Madeline his phantom-like, twin sister, this is one of Edgar Allan Poe's most captivating and influential tales.
• "Orpheus and Eurydice" When master musician Orpheus loses the love of his life to death, he decides to brave the terrors of the underworld and use his supernatural music to win her back. This myth of love and loss from Greek mythology is one of its most famous and enduring.
